Handcrafted Beech Wood Mount Fuji Vase with Antique Glass Bottle | The Difference Corner Studio
Complimentary Uk Delivery | UK Shipping Only
Handcrafted from solid beech wood, this piece is inspired by the serene silhouette of Mount Fuji: a broad, steady base that narrows upward into a clean, simple mountain shape. A heart-shaped opening in the center holds a small antique glass bottle, allowing dried flowers or branches to be displayed in a quiet, elegant way.
The wood's natural grain is warm and inviting, with honey tones and darker markings that contrast beautifully with the clear glass. For decorative use only, it suits dried flowers, branches, or minimalist arrangements, adding a refined touch with a story to your home. Every piece is one of a kind.
The Idea Behind It
I search antique markets for objects that carry the marks of history, then pair them with wooden pieces I design and make myself, creating a new kind of home decor. The old objects are never discarded or changed in nature. Instead, they are given a new place and a new meaning: from writing tool to a vessel for dried flowers and branches, from everyday item to a decorative piece with a story.
Antique Clear Pressed Glass Inkwell
Square base with softly curved, wavy sides that catch the light beautifully. Thick, substantial glass with a round opening at the top and "Patent 19894" embossed on the side. Slight air bubbles and pressing marks are visible, preserving its authentic antique character.
Function
Designed for dipping with dip pens and early fountain pens. The square base keeps it stable and hard to tip over, the round opening makes it easy to load the pen, and the curved sides are comfortable to hold and help reduce ink spills.
History
Produced around 1900–1920s, at the height of pressed glass stationery manufacturing. Inkwells like this were essential desk items in offices, schools, and homes. The patent mark on the side shows that its distinctive design was once registered for protection. As fountain pens and ballpoint pens became widespread, standalone inkwells gradually faded from use, and today they are treasured by collectors as nostalgic vintage stationery.
Perfect for: collecting, vintage desk display, nostalgic décor.
